Why is getting help so hard?
Say your mother needs a ride to the doctor in Jackson every Tuesday.
You search online and find a statewide number. They send you to another number. That office says they don't serve her county. The next one has a waiting list. By the fourth call, you still don't know who drives seniors in her county, what it costs, or if she even qualifies.
That happens every day in West Tennessee. The help usually exists. It's just hard to find the right door.
What the guide will do
- Start with the problem. Tap "I need a ride" or "Memory loss." You won't need to know what an agency is called.
- Show the local person first. A county office phone number comes before a national call center.
- Say who qualifies and what it costs, in plain words, before you call.
- Say what a program does NOT do, so you don't waste a call on the wrong office.
- Show when we last checked it. Every listing will show the month we last confirmed it.
- Work on any phone. Big text, big buttons, and no app store download needed.
Who this is for
- Older adults who want to stay independent at home.
- Family members and caregivers who are helping a parent, spouse or neighbor.
- Veterans and their families, who often get sent between VA offices and local programs.
- The people who help them: senior centers, churches, social workers, nurses, and county offices.
It will cover all 21 counties of West Tennessee, from Lake County to Hardin County, and from Benton County to Shelby County.
Where we are right now
We are researching and checking local programs county by county: phone numbers, hours, who qualifies, and what each one does and doesn't do. We haven't launched yet.

- We don't sell your information. The guide itself won't ask for your name or keep personal details.
- We check our work and show the date we last checked.
